Confab 2010 a Great Keynote Address for You
I always wonder what role the keynote plays in a conference such as Confab where our typical attendee comes to network with their peers (Peers of the Consulting Realm) and to learn what others are doing to build their consulting businesses. A keynote is supposed to be a draw but our general and breakout sessions and workshops usually overpower the keynote. This year, however, I think we struck gold, blue gold.
The general and breakout sessions are powerful as usual—no, better than usual since we didn’t just accept what came over the transom but went out and found good speakers to talk on the topics we knew you wanted to hear. And then we landed on a super topic for the keynote and went and found someone who is a living working practitioner of the tools, concepts and frameworks of the topic and a great speaker to boot.
Our theme is Building Your Business and how best to do that but take an inside look at Blue Ocean Strategy with our keynote speaker by Dr. Sarah Layton. Sarah has been jetting around the world helping clients get out of Red Oceans and create profitable Blue Oceans. She has been qualified by the Blue Ocean Strategy Initiative Center, London, and has become known for her valuable, interactive keynotes and presentations around the world including Belize, Brazil, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, India, Canada, Argentina, China, and USA.

I heard Sarah Layton speak on Blue Ocean Strategy at IMCUSA’s Chapter Leadership Summit this month in Chicago, and she really knows her stuff. Blue Ocean is a really exciting methodology for consultants to use to grow their consulting practices and grow their client’s businesses. It will be an especially important message at Confab 2010, because also at the Chapter Leadership Summit Tom Rodenhauser from Kennedy Information said that consulting is in a mature stage as a profession and there is little innovation. Tom reported that consulting firms are merely copying each other and “duking” it out in the red bloody ocean of competition. So I say bring on the blue ocean strategy! See you at Confab!
