MBA Job Market for Consultants

The Wall Street Journal reports that the market for new MBA grads is hit and miss. (article) Of note is an increase in consulting job opportunities for recent grads. Confab 2010 is focusing on Building a Consulting Business which seems to dovetail with the anecdotal findings of this article.

Consultants offer companies a unique selling proposition with their independent contractor nature, out of the box ideas, and specific scope of work. The specialized nature of consultants is allowing companies to better manage employment costs by allocating efforts directly to areas of immediate need. Expect to see consulting roles and opportunities increase in coming years.
