Consultants Getting Paid
As the roster fills out for Confab 2010 we are aligning the consulting seminar to cover topics that will impact consultants starting a consulting business. On April 26 The Wall Street Journal ran an article titled “Freelance Fight to be Paid” (link) that examined the pitfalls consultants face when clients are unable or unwilling to pay for services rendered. According to the article the growth of independent and freelance consultants, as a result of the slowed economy, has led to an uptick in the number of consultants seeking recovery of outstanding payments from clients.
The strategies for preparing in advance and resolving unpaid consulting hours is of critical importance when building a consulting business. How do other consultants handle outstanding accounts? What steps can consultants take upfront to reduce the risk of non-payment? Are there any recourse options available for unpaid consultants? Attend Confab 2010 to meet, mingle, and discuss this topic with other consultants.
