Ethics and Professionalism in the Digital Age

This session will focus on the special ethical challenges and pitfalls that consultants face in the digital age, addressing electronic communications, plagiarism, control of work product, confidentiality, document retention and use of social media.  It will also address how digital media can be used to protect professional ethics, reduce litigation risk, and document compliance with IMC USA’s Code of Professional Conduct.

Objective / Value:

Participants will learn to recognize ethical risks created by the new digital environment and will be given tools to reduce those risks and maintain high ethical standards in their professional work.  They will also learn how appropriate use of digital media can strengthen their professional ethics and client relationships.  Participants will be given an opportunity to discuss problems they’ve encountered in the “brave new digital world” and will receive practical advice on how to use electronic communications to document their compliance with the IMC USA Code of Professional Conduct and reduce their risk in court.

Speaker Biography:

Lauren Bloom is a Washington, D.C. attorney who has spent more than seventeen years teaching business professionals how to maintain strong ethics in their practice and prevent malpractice lawsuits by responsibly managing their litigation risk.  She speaks, writes and consults on business ethics and litigation risk management.  Lauren sits on the IMC USA national Board as an Outside Director and serves on the Board’s Governance Committee.
